Currently with the advent of modern video game consoles, the audio designer has found a territory to explore. Videogame audio, unlike audiovisual production, is dynamic and interactive. So, in addition to the sound design, a person is added with the responsibility of integrating the artistic work to the video game engine, the audio programmer.

The audio programmer will have the ability to create functions, events and procedures that relate the audio events to the video game. For this task it is necessary to know the programming language adopted by the video game engine, in some cases it will be necessary to create specific clients for audio engines external to the video game.

Currently there are many audio engines with different features, among them Unreal Development Kit, Wwise, Fmod, among others.
