SOUND FOR GAMES
SUMMARY
Currently, with the advent of modern video game consoles, the audio designer has found a territory to explore. Unlike audiovisual production, video game audio is dynamic and interactive. Therefore, in addition to sound design, there is a person responsible for integrating the artistic work into the game engine, known as the audio programmer.
The audio programmer will have the ability to create functions, events, and procedures that link audio events with the video game. For this task, it is necessary to understand the programming language adopted by the game engine; in some cases, it will be necessary to create specific clients for external audio engines.
There are currently many audio engines with different features, among which Unreal Development Kit, Wwise, and Fmod stand out.
